Announcement of new Citizens Union Bank Director

The Board of Directors of Citizens Union Bancorp, Shelbyville, KY is pleased to announce that Ray Leathers has been elected to serve as Director of Citizens Union Bank (CUB).

Ray is an 18 year veteran of military service where he became a decorated officer in the US Army holding two commands being awarded the Army Achievement Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, and the Army Meritorious Service Medal.   Ray joined Roll Forming Corporation, Shelbyville, Kentucky, in 2000; the very same year that it was acquired by voestalpine, and was part of the senior management team from the very beginning of the journey from a family owned business to a corporate owned enterprise.   He was named President/CEO of Roll Forming in 2007.

Ray is recognized by professional associations throughout the US as an innovative leader for the implementation of a “lean culture”.   He was awarded the 2010 Manufacturing Employee of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Manufacturing and in 2012 he was presented the Shelby County Distinguished Citizen Award by the Boy Scouts of America.   He has held Chairman and Executive Board positions with the Shelby County Industrial Association, Shelby County Industrial Development Foundation, Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, The Dorman Preschool Center, and the Serenity Center.

Ray has always had a passion for workforce development and he was one of the local leaders that developed The Ignite Initiative to promote training for advanced manufacturing made possible by a Kentucky Work Ready Skills Grant.   He also led the team that developed and recruited the Shelby County Area Workforce Coordinator to promote secondary education “co-op” programs between local schools and industries.

Ray is considered one of our area’s leading experts in creating a Continuous Improvement culture for manufacturing and service organizations.  Upon his retirement from Roll Forming in September, he plans to pursue a second career guiding progressive organizations in workforce development and building a continuous improvement culture for sustained growth and profitability.

Ray graduated from Eastern Kentucky University on a ROTC scholarship and later earned a Master’s from the University of Southern California.  He and his wife Rosalie reside in Shelby County.

“We are very excited to add someone of Ray’s caliber and background to our Board.  He is a talented business leader and tireless community servant.” said David Bowling, CEO of Citizens Union Bank.  “He will add depth to our Board and help us continue our growth and development as an organization.”

Citizens Union Bank, originally established in 1888, employs XX people in 16 locations in Shelby, Jefferson, Oldham, Owen, Gallatin, Spencer, Bullitt, and Hardin counties in Kentucky.
