Citizens Union Bank has been recognized for their assistance with the financing of the recently completed tax credit project – Parkside Apartment Complex, located in the Garden Springs-Parkside area of Lexington, KY. The Parkside is a new 36 multi-use apartment complex which will not only be a place for low-income families to live; it will also serve as a place for people to be rehabilitated.

Parkside will feature two important non-profit agencies; the Blue Grass Domestic Violence and the Sunflower Kids. The two agencies will use the first floor space of the apartment complex for support group meetings and workshops to focus on stopping domestic violence in the area and reaching out to families who do not speak English as a first language. They will strive to make changes in the neighborhood which has seen an increase in crime over the past few years. Lexington officials are hoping the opening of Parkside will spur more businesses to move into the neighborhood as well.
